The Lobster Cloud is a special form of platform as a service, namely an Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS). Our iPaaS concept includes cloud-based solutions for integrating applications and data from both cloud and on-premises environments. iPaaS enables the development, management, and operation of integrated workflows and connects various cloud models.
CLOUD CONCEPT.
Lobster_data uses the multi-instance concept for its own Lobster Cloud, so that each customer has their own independent cloud infrastructure with all applications and services. With Lobster_data, each customer also receives a dedicated cloud setup allowing them to decide which infrastructure components to book and the most suitable configuration and licensing variant for Lobster_data, depending on their company and IT landscape.

Data Recovery
A dedicated database means that you can recover your data. This is not possible with multi-tenant architecture. Here, a server or database crash would mean that all customers are offline. An unthinkable scenario.

If you use your own cloud instances, you are completely free to schedule and carry out maintenance work when it suits you. In addition, your data storage becomes manageable, and you are also best protected in the event of unexpected events, because the only priority is to solve your problem.
While multiple users (clients) share one and the same cloud infrastructure with multi-tenant, with multi-instance you are the sole master of your data. This means that only you decide on the availability and recovery of data. Flexible and in line with your requirements.
The cloud migration proved to be quite the challenge. But once we had assembled the right team – as soon as these guys got sat down together, it was a breeze.

BUILDING LOBSTER_DATA IN THE CLOUD.
Even with an existing on-premises infrastructure, your company can benefit from cloud computing. You have two options for migrating to a public cloud provider:
- Internet-Gateway
- VPN-Connection
This means that only users with an encrypted VPN connection can access the private subnet in which Lobster_data operates. Lobster_data has no direct, unsecured connection to the open internet, but can only be reached indirectly via the public subnet, which is also usually equipped with a Lobster DMZ server for even more security. An ERP system operated locally in the company (e.g. SAP) receives an encrypted and therefore secure VPN connection to the private subnet in the cloud. Another advantage: Any number of virtual machines can run on each subnet.
